The Gilded Filter

The Gilded Filter The world is viewed through a lens of gold, Where the truth is bought, and the soul is sold. It’s a strange alchemy, a dark design, That turns a crime into something fine. The Veil of the Vested The rich man’s shadow is deep and wide, With enough room for his ghosts to hide. His malice is called 'a lapse of grace,' Polished away by a silk embrace. Money is the curtain, heavy and vast, Protecting the present from a hollow past. The Trial of the Tattered But the poor man stands in a freezing light, Where even his virtues are stripped from sight. If he bleeds, they claim it’s a thirsty show, If he weeps, they say it’s for seeds to grow. They hunt for a flaw in a faultless life, And sharpen the tongue like a rusted knife. The Great Deception It mutes the scream of the broken heart, And tears the fabric of truth apart. It grants the guilty a throne to sit, While the innocent fall in a nameless pit. A currency that buys a brand new ...

The Weight of "Have To"

I am a patient, bound by white walls and breath,

Counting the cost between living and death.

"I have to suffer," the heartbeat insists,

Lost in a vapor, a soul in the mists.

I have to pay for the air that I take,

I have to worry for every mistake.

I have to hide what I feel deep inside,

On a carousel of "have-to’s," a weary, dark ride.

The world is a ledger of debt and of fear,

We whisper our 'must-dos' so loud we can’t hear.

We build up these prisons of silver and stone,

And tremble in shadows, feeling alone.

But look past the fever, the debt, and the ache,

Before the final, cold morning shall break.

We weren’t sent as debtors to worry and weep,

Or to bury our spirits in secrets so deep.

The "dark reality" is a mirror so clear:

We forgot why the Creator has placed us right here.

Not to be patients, or prisoners of gold,

But to witness the stories yet to be told.

To love, to awaken, to see through the lie,

That we are just bodies that suffer and die.

Strip away "have to," and what do you see?

A soul sent to earth just to learn how to be.

Here is a summary of the spiritual and psychological weight of this mindset, and how the "dark reality" can be transformed into a "bright truth."

1. The Psychology of the "Patient"

When you say "I am a patient," you define yourself by your malady instead of your being.

The Weight: "I have to suffer" creates a mental loop where the pain becomes your entire identity.

The Reality: Religion and philosophy teach that you are not the body that hurts; you are the soul that observes the body.

2. The Debt of "I Have to Pay"

We often feel a crushing weight to "pay" for our existence—through money, through proving our worth, or through suffering for past mistakes.

The Weight: This creates a life of transaction rather than transformation.

The Reality: Most holy books suggest that life is a gift (Grace/Fazl), not a debt. You cannot "pay" for the sun, the air, or your heartbeat. Accepting this stops the constant calculation of "what I owe."

3. The Mask of "I Have to Hide"

This is perhaps the heaviest weight. We hide our pain, our failures, and our true selves because we fear the judgment of "Log" (people).

The Weight: Hiding requires immense energy. It creates a "split" between your private truth and your public lie.

The Reality: The "dark reality" is that everyone else is also hiding. When you stop hiding from the Creator (who already knows), you find the strength to stop hiding from the world.

SOLUTIONS

......

A. Submission (Tawakkul / Sharanagati)

The solution to "I have to worry" is realizing you aren't actually in control.

The Concept: Trust that the "Grand Architect" has a plan that your limited sight cannot see.

The Shift: Instead of saying "I have to carry this," say "I am being carried through this."

B. This Too Shall Pass (Fana / Anicca)

The solution to "I have to suffer" is the realization of impermanence.

The Concept: The world is a bridge; do not build your house on it.

The Shift: Pain is a guest, not a resident. When you realize the "patient" and the "hospital" are both temporary, the sting of the suffering lessens.

C. Transparency over Secrecy

The solution to "I have to hide" is seeking a relationship with the Divine, who already knows your secrets.

The Concept: "He is closer to you than your jugular vein." * The Shift: When you realize you are already fully known and fully loved by the Creator, the need to hide from "Log" (people) disappears.
